About the course:
This three hour session is designed to provide an introduction to supporting people with Mental Health and Suicide Prevention. This course is not a safeguarding course, it is tailored to how we support people experiencing mental health problems and how your organisation can better respond. Looking at check-lists, capability and empowerment.
By the end of this training session, participants should be able to:
- Have a good understanding of mental health and suicide
- Feel confident supporting an individual expressing suicidal thoughts (whilst safeguarding concerns are being handled through your policies and procedures)
- Understand better ways to deal with a difficult or anxious client
- Identify relevant organisations to sign-post people to
About the trainer:
This course has been designed by our Training Lead, with a varied background in local government, mental health work, managing a Government funded equality programme and our work at Citizens Advice Stockport. His personal background on some of these issues adds a dynamic to the course, encouraging healthy discussion and exploration around a subject that is gaining prominence. Led by a passion for delivering effective and meaningful services, your learners can be confident that the content will be relevant and that they can fully participate in the group.
